Factors that Initiate Acne Scars and Treatment

  • Factors that Initiate Acne Scars

In this era of idolism of beauty, who wouldn’t want a clear looking pretty face? Flawless and clear skin does not only make us look beautiful but it also makes us appear more presentable and enhance our confidence from within. But those pimples and acnes wouldn’t just let us be. Irrespective of age, race or gender; they can occur to anyone at any odd point of time. What worsens the case is that when they go, they leave behind their mark in form of blemishes on our pretty face. How disheartening it is!

  • In such cases, the obvious question is what causes acne scars’?

Before we start, I would want to introduce you to the types of acne. Let us broadly classify them into scarring acne and non-scarring acne. Just like the names suggests, non-scarring acnes usually do not or very rarely (in some cases) leave behind any scars or blemishes, for example, blackheads and whiteheads. While, the scarring acnes are pretty freaky as they do leave behind scars and that too for a very long period of time, for eg. inflammatory acnes like acne nodules or cysts. These type of scarring acnes affects the deeper layers of the skin and thus, leaving long-term scars.

Well, there are many factors responsible for causing those acne scars and some of them are listed below.

  • Conspiracy of Genes:

Just like diabetes and cholesterol, even acne scarring can get passed through genes. So, if there are members with any acne related issues in your pedigree, you are more likely to experience it too. Sadly, there is nothing much that you can do to avoid it but luckily, you can definitely control it to great extents.

  • Untreated Acnes:

Acne breakouts that are left untreated for long tend to leave behind scars and blemishes. The longer you keep them untreated, the deeper layers of the skin will be affected which means dark spots for a very long period of time. Therefore, it is recommended to treat your acnes as early as possible in order to prevent scarring. The sooner it is, the better it will be.

  • Picking or Touching Acnes:

Acne does not only blot your beauty but can also be very irritable and itchy. Our most common instinct during an acne breakout is either touching it too often or straight away picking at it. Remind yourself to mind your hands every time you feel itchy. Touching the acne too often can spread the bacteria in the surrounding areas as well leading to more breakouts. Many people believe that the best way to get rid of acnes is simply picking at it. Well, the fact is, you are not getting rid of the acne but harming your own skin. This will definitely lead to scars and will also prolong its healing process.

  • Use of Harsh Personal Care and Beauty Products:

It is also most commonly believed that applying numerous products on acne can treat it faster. Also, girls believe in concealing them using makeup. This would just conceal the problem and not eradicate it. In midst of all this experimenting, people usually tend to spoil it further which obviously result in long-term scars. Therefore, it is suggested to stick to its treatment first till it gets better and then go on with rest of the things.

  • Acnes Itself:

Yes, it might seem funny but it is true. If there are no acne there would not be any acne scars too, would there be? So, the best way is to prevent acnes in order to keep acne scars off. And here is how to do it:

  • One major reason behind acne:

breakout is clogged pores, now that can again be due to various reason like makeup, pollutants, dust, dead skin, excess oil from sebaceous glands etc that get accumulated on the pores. So, make sure to wash your face regularly and scrub it often.

Girls who use makeup often have a huge tendency to develop acne if not taken proper care. Dispose of the brushes or sponges from time to time or else bacteria or fungi may begin to develop on them.

  • Comedogenic:

makeup or beauty products are heavily responsible for clogging your pores. So, next time you buy any beauty product, make sure it is “non-comedogenic”. And always remove your makeup before going to bed.
You should clean your face properly:

Everything that makes direct contact with your face must be cleaned properly. For instance, your mobile phone touches your face while you are speaking to someone, hence, such electronics should be sanitized regularly. While sleeping your pillow covers or bedsheet is in direct contact with your face, so change them regularly.

In a day our hand makes maximum contact with things, directly exchanging many bacterias and germs. So, even if it subconsciously, try not to touch your face too often. Or else will transfer those bacterias and germs from your hand to your face.

Acne can also be caused due to many medical issues like polycystic ovarian syndrome in ladies. In such cases, it is always advisable to consult your doctor.

Hormonal imbalance:

is also one of the most common factors to be blamed for acne break out. Mostly this imbalance occurs when the body goes through drastic changes like puberty, pregnancy etc. In cases like such, you should seek help from a dermatologist.

And then comes stress:

, the unwanted mother of all unwanted diseases. It not gives you deadly diseases like cancer but is also responsible for giving you severe and much painful acne breakouts. Hence, drink a lot of water every day; and try to stay happy, calm and relaxed as far as possible.

So, you have seen how acne breakouts can be avoided, if the stubborn acne still happens to occur, now you know what not to do to prevent your beauty from being blotted by any blemishes.
